July 3rd, Kirksville, Missouri, Stars and Stripes Marathon, weather
The comment I hear most when talking to people about the STARS and STRIPES MARATHON is, “Why July 3rd, it’ll be so hot”. My response is yes, early July does have the potential of being hot, but it also has the potential of being overcast and rainy. Just remember, as you train over the next four months, your body will acclimate to the warmer weather conditions. The race starts at 6:00 AM when it’s cooler and the course closes at noon before the afternoon temperature peaks. Have fun training and we hope to see you at the STARS and STRIPES MARATHON/HALF MARATHON on Saturday, July 3rd, 2010. Teresa Carter from KTVO3 was kind enough to provide us with the low/high temps and amounts of rain for July 3rd the last ten years in Kirksville. Thank you Teresa. NOTE: it rained six out of ten years.
July 3, 1999 – low 75 – high 90

FYI: The reason for choosing July 3rd was to coincide the marathon with the annual Red, White and Blue Festival sponsored by the Kirksville Area Chamber of Commerce.

The wait is over! If you would like to get registered for the STARS and STRIPES MARATHON… we’re good to go! Please click on the Registration page, print out the two forms, fill them out, mail them to us along with your registration fee and get started training!
The weather here in northeast Missouri is beginning to warm up finally (yay!). As I write this post… my weather wigit tells me that in the next six days we’re going to warm up, which means running conditions are going to greatly improve. To be specific… it predicts Sunday is going to be 54 degrees and partly sunny! WOW! That’s fabulous.
If you’re a runner and know somebody that’s interested in volunteering… please have them contact us! It’s one thing to run a marathon… it’s another to “run” a marathon! Allen and the rest of us putting together the Kirksville marathon are going to need lots of extra people. Your help in recruiting willing and able individuals is greatly appreciated. Please spread the word, we would really appreciate it.
Cheers!
